  • Job Description: Sr. WLAN Engineer
    Position Description:
    This position will be accountable for the technical implementation of WLAN technologies, product evaluations and working collaboratively with other IT departments and business teams in support of enterprise network initiatives. The Senior WLAN Network Engineer will possess technical knowledge and skills to support the 24/7/365 enterprise wide area networks, including, but not limited to troubleshooting, providing guidance to less senior team members, directing activities and assessing risks, managing vendor and service support teams in network administrative related activities. In addition to required experience in data network engineering and administration and wireless network experience is required.
    Position Responsibility:
    • Configure, support, design and maintain a Cisco Unified WLAN infrastructure consisting of routers, Nexus and Catalyst switches, Cisco WLAN Controllers, Cisco Access Points and Cisco ISE.  In addition, expert knowledge of: Cisco NCS and MSE to maintain WLAN infrastructure and ensure compliance to with corporate security standards. 
    • Perform WLAN site surveys for new and existing WLAN infrastructure.
    • Strong knowledge of Guest WLAN Infrastructures to include design, implementation and support of BYOD Technologies (Cisco, Aruba, desired.) 
    • Interface with IT groups (infrastructure and application) in designing and implementing data network solutions based on business requirements.
    • Independent worker who can manage projects, interface with multiple teams (internal and external) and provide assistance/direction to less senior team members.  
    • Oversee offshore Level 2 network resources and ensure SLA’s are being met.
    • Support and manage network applications, i.e. Cisco ACS, AirMagnet, Solar Winds  
    • Create network documentation in support of technology upgrades, ongoing operational support and management presentations.
    • Participate in the design of business continuity and IT disaster recovery plans and testing.
    Minimum Required Skills and Experience:
    • 7 years experience in configuring Cisco equipment - Cisco certification required, CCNP
    • Strong Project Management experience – PMP or an equivalent certification a plus.
    • Excellent written and communication skills.
    • WLAN acceleration experience preferably with Cisco WLAN devices
    • College degree, preferably a BS with computer science or telecommunications
    • Services oriented and strong Customer focus
    • Ability to determine issue severity level and escalate to resolution.
    • Minimum of 5 years in WAN monitoring and implementing improvements.
    • Lead role in projects required, management experience a plus.
    • Flexible work schedule to provide 24x7x365 on-call coverage.
