Client is currently seeking a Director – PMO in the Fairfield, NJ area.  This position will be responsible for the strategic oversight of projects and leading project managers who execute projects within information technology. The PMO Director ensures adherence to master plans and schedules, develops solutions to project problems, directs work of team members assigned to various projects and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate must have application and infrastructure experience along with excellent problem solving and communication skills. It will be necessary to build and maintain multiple relationships between the Business organization and within the IT organization in order to identify the customer needs, requirements, and execute successfully.
The Director – PMO will provide strategic direction and leads execution of projects assigned to the PMO.  S/He will oversee and review quality of core deliverables, including but not limited to Status Reports, Charter, Schedules, and other key stakeholder presentations/communication.  This roll will also oversee and manage budget to plan ensuring key stakeholders are aware of budgetary compliance and/or incompliance and where issues/expenses have been escalated and/or decreased.
The Director – PMO will act as a point of escalation to address projects with variances from budget, customer satisfaction issues and other issues including executive management concerns.  S/He will collaborate with PMO Leadership to enhance the SDLC methodology and templates for project execution and focus on creating a methodology for executing infrastructure focused projects.  Additionally, this role will lead third party consultants who are performing project management responsibilities to ensure there is consistency in delivery.  The Director will mentor and lead project managers while ensuring career development are ongoing. Develop and foster a project management community that includes career development, professional certification, sharing of best practices will also be included. 
To be qualified for this position you must have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Engineering or Computer Science, with proven project management skills spanning application and infrastructure solutions.  Qualified candidates must have 10+ years experience working as an IT Project Manager with 7+ years managing project leaders. 
Experience in full lifecycle application solution development/delivery including transition to post production support is required.  Additionally experience, delivering infrastructure related projects (networks, telephony, servers, storage, middleware, security, messaging, data bases, applications, and security) is needed. Candidates must have experience working with senior leadership in a strategic context.
Qualified candidates must have the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.  Strong organizational, leadership, problem solving and influencing skills are required along with having sensitivity to the multi-cultural characteristics of a global IT organization.  S/He must be proficient in MS Office including Visio, MS Project, SharePoint.  PMI and ITIL certifications are a plus.
